I've never been anywhere on a full tour before. How does one prepare when everything seems to have been done for us?
One very successful thing we did in preparation for our trip to Canada's east coast was learn. This is easy with homeschooling - we just added Canadian History and Geography and Literature to our days.
So, I have gone through our tour's itinerary and pulled out 24 areas of study.
Some Biblical, some historical, some geographical, some political... and now I develop curriculum and discover resources to introduce these topics to my 11 year old over about a six week period. Yikes!
A second area of preparation is prayer. I pray and I ask others to pray, not just for the three of us going (Granny, Anna-Lee and myself), but for the part of the family back at home- I learned the importance of that when I went to Uganda. Lots praying for me but I forgot to ask people to pray for those at home. Not a good result.
Please pray.
And, maybe we'll learn a little Hebrew. A little music. A little food...
